What remains the same?

In honor of his greatest and last wish, Jonathon's music will go on. Jonathon's legacy includes both recorded music and original compositions. In addition to his artistry as a performer, Jonathan was a prolific composer. The promotion and sale of his recorded music will continue. His compositions will be available for any capable artist to perform or record. Permissions to perform or record the music can be obtained by contacting Jonathon Lee Music. Jonathon personally chose and prepared Michael Martinez to be the future performer and recorder of his compositions. Michael's natural style is similar to Jonathon's and he plays many of Jonathon's compositions from memory. It is hoped that Michael will continue to perform Jonathon's compositions and re-record some of them when the time and circumstances are right.

What will change?

This web site, titled "Jonathon Lee Music", with the URL of http://www.jonathonleemusic.com, will replace the former "Official Jonathon Lee Website".

Launched May, 2007 under sponsorship and management of Jonathon Lee's family (his heirs), this web site will be the only family-endorsed and family-authorized Jonathon Lee web site operating in the United States. There is a pre-existing authorized Jonathon Lee web site operating in Japan which is endorsed by Jonathon's family because Jonathon sold the rights to operate that site to its owner. That site in Japan has the URL http://www.macnica.co.jp/jl/jlm_e.html.

Because Jonathon is deceased, the family elected to change the Official Site name from "Jonathon Lee" to "Jonathon Lee Music". The family wants to promote the continuing existence of Jonathon Lee Music as a company to preserve the memory of Jonathon.

Michael Martinez will eventually inherit ownership of the business and intellectual property known as Jonathon Lee Music. Michael was chosen because he is young, talented, and committed. He is the most qualified emissary to carry Jonathon's legacy into the future.

The format of the CD offerings will be changing. The number of available CD albums will be reduced. We are planning a Boxed Set, and one individual album. The Boxed Set will contain all of Jonathon's original compositions, as recorded by him. The individual album will contain Jonathon's most popular individual song recordings, some of which were not written by him. Michael Martinez might produce future albums.

Individual songs, in MP3 format for immediate download are now offered for sale on the web site.

Jonathon Lee Music will offer access of this web site to affiliated musicians, for marketing related music, and possibly collaborative recording.

A Jonathon Lee Memorial Foundation might be established if some party, or parties, are inclined to do so. Jonathon Lee Music would cooperate and support such an effort.

The foregoing changes will not happen immediately, but they are seen as ultimate goals of an evolutionary process over several years.
